History

The Cambridge roadrunners Girls' Hockey Association (CrGHA) is celebrating its 15th year of operation in 2008/2009. The organization has grown from the two teams that participated fourteen years ago, to 23 teams and over 350 girls this past season -- and we are looking to grow even more.

Girls' hockey is one of the fastest growing sports and the CrGHA is well poised to offer programs for girls to take part in this exciting game. The association provides opportunities for girls of all age and skills levels, with an emphasis on fun and safety.

The Cambridge roadrunners Girls Hockey Association (CrGHA) implemented the first stage of a Fair Play Program for the 2001/02 season to enhance and foster SAFETY and RESPECT, FUN, and promote the many positive aspects of minor hockey for players, parents, coaches, officials and others involved.

Player and Parent/Guardian forms must be signed and returned by September 1st, 2007. Players will not be permitted on the ice until the forms have been signed and returned.

Programs

House League & Travel Divisions:

The CrGHA provides opportunities for girls to play at either the house league or travel level, depending upon skill level and interest of the individual. Both house league and travel are offered from Novice to Midget ages and travel only at the Intermediate level. Try-outs for travel teams (with the exception of the Novice B Team) begin in April. Please see the Tryout Schedule on our Schedules page. Any girls currently registered with CrGHA wishing to play on a "First" team MUST attend spring tryouts unless they have written permission from the executive that would excuse them (otherwise they will not be permitted to tryout in the fall).

Tryouts are open to all participants including ringette, and any girls playing in boy's hockey associations, as long as they can show proof of registration/insurance with the other organization. Please see our Spring Tryout Policy.

House League & Learn-to-Play (Rookies):

Once again, the CrGHA is pleased to offer a program for girls to learn basic skating and hockey skills. This program is offered once a week at the Cambridge Mall Ice Centre, and lasts throughout the season. Time and dates to be announced. Registrations will be limited to a first-come, first-served basis.
